The Board of Governors of the Colegio Mayor Moncloa offers its students a generous program of both need and merit-based awards.

The criteria for these awards is primarily based on the student´s dedication to his studies, effective use of time, participation in different types of activities (cultural, courses, seminars, etc.), development of financial responsibilities, the promotion of solidarity, etc.

The students that attain academic excellence are involved in the activities listed above, and are prime examples of the standards that Moncloa instills upon its residents. The university´s objective is to foster fantastic students, with a great academic atmosphere, paying special attention to those who lack financial resources.

Awards for Outstanding Academic Performance

15 awards of 1,000 € for the best students of the Colegio Mayor (in the month of June):
6 for new residents (best secondary school average).
4 for the best students in the areas of engineering/architecture.
3 for the best students in double degree/difficult degree programs (with an minimum average of 8).
2 for the best students in single degree programs (with an minimum average of 8.5).
A Board Committee will determine the recipients, will resolve the conflicts and ambiguities, and will decide on the distribution of awards for the following academic year. Evaluation will also take place, regarding the difficulty in choosing recipients due to the ambiguity of degrees. The final decisios will be released before the 10th of September. The awards will be applied as reductions in the price of tuition to the university. The recipients can renounce these awards personally, or they can be suspended for poor performance. The recipients will have to present a quarterly report on performance.

Work-Study Program

Reductions in the university tuition in exchange for working at the Colegio Mayor.
The pay rate is 6 € per hour.
Current jobs offered: front gate, library, records.
Furthermore, those students who participate in the tutoring program will receive a similar amount of compensation.
Those students selected will have to present a quarterly report on performance.

Family Scholarships

For brothers or families with exceptional economic circumstances.
Each case will be evaluated the Board of Governors.
The Board will also consider academic performance and activity participation when choosing the recipients.Those students seleccted will have to present a quarterly report on academic performance.

The application period for these awards will take place from April 15th until September 10th. The final decisions will be made no later than the 15th of September and will be sent to the applicants. The president of the Board of Governors will communicate, in writing, to the recipient, detailing the specifics on the award earned. The financial aid will be directly applied to the cost of tuition to the university, according to the conditions set forth by the secretary of the Colegio Mayor.
