In a Colegio Mayor such as Moncloa, our residents receive a complementary education that not only takes place in the classrooms, but also in daily aspects of college life and the activities that come with it. The activities at Moncloa are primarily directed to orient the student toward studying and bettering his working habits, as well as cultivating the university spirit, which is open to all aspects of culture, art, and science. Particular attention is also payed to the sporting activities and social volunteering sponsored by the residence. Furthermore, there exists educational opportunites for participating in Christian formation, directed by Opus Dei. The above iniciatives respond to the many different interests of the residents, who promote and organize them according to their likes and dislikes through the Department of Fellows.
During the summer, other activities are organized, and many are coordinated with other institutions, such as: coursses and seminars, volunteer fieldwork in Spain and throughout the world, cultural visits and excursions, language courses, etc.
Consult the CALENDAR to find out more about the Activities of Moncloa. |

Chapliancy
All day long and all week, the Colegio lives in a state of Christian familiar piety with such activities as the prayer of the Rosary, Grace, and Sunday Mass.
The attendence to these religious functions is always voluntary. This tradition of liberty has been in place sine 1943, when it was treated as an authentic exception to the Christian ideals of years past. The Colegio Mayor is open to students of all religious faiths and beliefs.
The atmosphere of liberty allows for personal Christian maturation of many of the residents.
Aside from the activities of the Colegio Mayor, there are some other forms of Christian formation, entrusted to the Prelature of Opus Dei (Christian doctrine courses, religious retreat courses, meditation, study circles, etc.). In accordance with the disseminating spirit of St. Josemaría, we remember that in a Christian university, "studying is a serious obligation," and that our work should be done to perfection and with a spirit of service.
Anyone who wishes can meet with an Opus Dei priest to talk about any issues one may have. |
